Terms of Service — Sumbly

These terms govern your use of the Sumbly iPhone app, provided by Aleksandra Maksimowska, an individual developer based in Poland ("we", "us"). By using Sumbly you agree to them. Questions: [email protected].

1. What Sumbly does

Sumbly writes short summaries of the key ideas in public YouTube videos, from their public transcripts, and links every summary to the original video, which stays the source of truth. Sumbly is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by YouTube or Google.

2. Your account

You sign in with Apple and keep your Apple ID secure. You can delete your account anytime in Account → Delete Account; the Privacy Policy explains what that removes.

3. Plans and payment

Sumbly is free, with Sumbly's weekly picks. Premium and Premium+ are optional monthly subscriptions at the price shown in the app and on the App Store before you buy; they differ in how many summaries you get each month.

Apple bills your Apple ID through In-App Purchase. We never see your payment details.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price until you cancel, and you're charged within 24 hours before each period ends.
Cancel anytime in your iPhone's Settings or from the app; the subscription stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
Refunds are handled by Apple under its terms.
Each plan has a monthly summary limit, shown in the app, to keep the service fair and sustainable.

4. AI summaries

Summaries are generated automatically and can be inaccurate, incomplete or unavailable, for example for videos without a transcript, livestreams or very long videos. They are a convenience, not a replacement for the original: check anything important against the video. We may decline to summarize content that breaks these terms or our providers' policies.

5. Fair use

Don't use Sumbly unlawfully or against YouTube's terms, try to get around its limits, reverse engineer or overload it, access it with bots or scripts, or use it to harass or infringe on others. We may suspend accounts that do.

6. Ownership

The app, its design and logo are ours. Videos, thumbnails, titles and channel names belong to their owners. Summaries are for your personal, non-commercial use; don't republish or resell them at scale.

7. Third parties

Sumbly relies on Apple, Google / YouTube (YouTube API Services) and Anthropic (summaries). Your use is also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. We aren't responsible for third-party services.

8. Liability

Sumbly is provided "as is", without warranties. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses from using or being unable to use it. Nothing here limits your mandatory rights as a consumer where you live.

9. Changes and ending

We'll tell you in the app before material changes to these terms take effect. You can stop using Sumbly anytime; we may end access if you break these terms or the law or Apple requires it.

10. Law

Polish law applies, without affecting the consumer protections of the country where you live.
